Sunday our youth pastor and his wife (Johnny & Brooke) organized the worship. Our pastor was on his last Sunday on the book of Ruth, so the worship was centered around Christ The Redeemer. I played electric and had plenty of fun playing around with different sounds on my XT Live. I was even asked to get funky, which I think is rather funny (and so would you if you knew me). It was tough to get time in for practicing because our whole family has been sick, but thankfully Saturday night our son finally slept through the night, his congestion is getting better!
As part of Fred McKinnon’s worship blog carnival, here is the set that we did:
My Redeemer Lives - Hillsong (The funkness was in the house!)
Nothing But The Blood - Matthew Smith
Hosanna - Hillsong
Holy is Our God - Starfield (This song is growing on me. Thanks, Will, for the delay patch!)
Sweetly Broken - Jeremy Riddle (While we were passing out the bread)
Jesus Paid It All - Kristian Stanfill (While we were passing out the cup)
All Because of Jesus - Fee (Most challenging song!)
I was most nervous about All Because of Jesus because I could not figure out a good tone on the Pod, but eventually got something that seemed to work. Then all I had to worry about was passing off as a pro-Wah-er.

This Sunday was my second attempt at organizing and leading a worship team, the first was back in November. We’re trying to get more involvement in my age group, so far it has worked great. I am very thankful for the skilled musicians and singers on our team, and for the amount of time people are sacrificing as we build the band into something cohesive.
As part of Fred McKinnon’s worship blog carnival, here is the set that we did (Link to Planning Center page):
O Praise Him - David Crowder Band (Did an extended piano intro for about a minute while people walked in, no LA LA LA LA LA LA’s)
Mighty To Save - Hillsong United
How Great Thou Art - Paul Baloche (We added in the third verse, during which we went acoustic…AWESOME)
Jesus Paid It All - Kristian Stanfill (During Lord’s Supper, while the bread was passed)
Instrumental (During Lord’s Supper, while the cup was passed)
I Exalt Thee - Re:zound
Let Creation Sing - Hillsong
First service was a little livelier than usual, probably because there are now more people (We made the services 20 minutes later). Second service was great with genuine worship happening!
Last November (when we lead last) How Great Thou Art seemed to be the song that really spoke to the church, today I think it was I Exalt Thee. The version we did starts off so quiet and worshipful, then builds beautifully.
Our God is a Great God! I’m very thankful for all of the amazing songwriters out there that are making beautiful songs with solid worshipful lyrics, or are re-doing hymns in a new and fresh way. Thank you!
Check out the sermon when it is posted in a few days: http://believersfellowship.net/sermons.html

While looking for some new worship songs to do at church, I came across this priceless video. Supposedly it is from the 70’s, but I ain’t buying it…
Sonseed, Jesus is My Friend

I actually use Wikipedia quite a bit for random tidbits of information, but this is a beautiful prank:

My favorite part is “former players include Jean Claude Van Damme…”

Exxon would not even need to drill, methane is so abundant that it even rains with the hydrocarbons.

Only a million year supply of methane on the dreary moon. Hopefully, by then we would have fuel cells or some other type of renewable clean energy.

So I got a new debit card and called to activate it this morning. It asked me to enter my 16 digit account number followed by the pound sign, then asked for my four digit security code followed by the pound sign.
Why is it that these automated phone systems are not smart enough to know that I have entered my 16 digits? Why must we still use the pound sign to tell the system that we are ready for the next step? The new systems that work with your voice instead of typing in the numbers obviously don’t need the pound sign (Can you imaging saying “pound” after telling them your account number?). Computers should be smarter than this.
There’s another company that annoys me with their phone system. I won’t say the name of the company, but let’s just say that I don’t find the system very Comcastic!. When you call in they ask for your phone number. After that, they typically will ask you to press 1 if you are a customer. First off, just ask if I’m calling from where my service is located, that’s what caller ID is for. Second, if I give you my number, can’t you check to see if I’m a customer!? Third, when I eventually talk to someone, they almost ALWAYS ask for my phone number again. What’s the point?
Tangently, I like the following clip from Bill Cosby on driving. Pretty funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC9Z5XU1NjY

Check out this video of bears scratching their itches on trees. My favorite fact was when they said the bears sometimes will do this for over an hour.
You’ll have to wait through a 30 second advertisement, but it’s worth it.

Our softball team won again today by a large margin, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re asked for drug testing soon.
After the game, Micah and I were playing with a kids’ plastic golf club and a small ball. After a little bit I used the club as a bat and hit the ball (I know, coordination!). So Micah (who is 20 months) takes the ball and the club, and tries his best to immitate me. He would slam the ball and ‘bat’ together and in the same motion kinda throw them forward. It was way cool, I’ll try to get some pictures from nana soon.

With Cheri off to the indoors of a baby shower, Micah and I trekked to the grand Titlow beach. A better name for it would be the land next to the water, since it is really not a beach.
Micah and I spent at least 30 minutes throwing rocks in the water. He was so in to it, he completely ignored the train rumbling by us.
